Alphabetical list of North Shore towns. Information about that town and a link to see local homes for sale.

Amesbury

Sharing a border with New Hampshire. Amesbury is one of Massachusetts' northern-most towns. It has a historic Millyard and Market Square. As well as nice Riverwalk for hiking and biking.

Beverly

Harbor Town bordering Danvers, Wenham and Manchester-by-the-sea. It's about a 40-50 minute commute up the coast from Boston.

Boxford

A large, mostly rural town with hiking trails and ponds. Though it's not directly on the water it is considered part of the North Shore commercially. Boxford's location along I-95 makes commuting to Boston much easier than other towns nearby.

Danvers

A charming community. Danvers shares borders with Beverly and Topsfield, among others.

Essex

Quaint town with excellent seafood restaurants. Maintains a rural quality despite recent growth. Probably because of its open spaces and protected forest land.

Gloucester

Bustling town with beautiful beaches, shopping and nightlife. A healthy mix of urban and residential living. Gloucester is one of America's first seaports.

Hamilton

Hamilton is a rural town on the North Shore. It's known for its open landscapes and equestrian friendly atmosphere. A local Boston magazine declared it one of the "Best Places to Live." 

Ipswich

Known for one of Massachusetts' prettiest beaches, Crane Beach. This waterfront town has all the shopping, dining and history you need.

Lynn

Probably the most affordable water-front town on the list. Lynn offers homes with water views, many condos and great investment properties.

Lynnfield

This cozy small town is very convenient to Boston. It has two high-end 55+ communities and an luxurious open air mall called Market Street Lynnfield.

Marblehead 

One of America best preserved historic towns. Marblehead was once a flourishing fishing village. Today it's a vibrant town with a excellent restaurants, many historical sites and a picturesque harbor.

Merrimac

The town of Merrimac Ma sits on New Hampshire's border and a few towns East of the Atlantic Ocean. Today it is mostly a residential community.

Middleton

Middleton is a residential community that sits just north on Lynnfield.

Nahant

This small town is often referred to as an island. Though it does connect to Massachusetts mainland by road. Nahant is close to Lynn and Swampscott. It has beaches and a close community.

Newbury

37 miles North of Boston and on the water, Newbury has a small population of under 7000. Old Town, Plumb Island and Byfield are 3 villages included in Newbury's borders. 

Newburyport

A small, beautiful port city with quaint shops and fine dining. There is so much exploring you can do - shopping, whale watching, festivals and more. Newburyport is one of the nicest communities you could ever live in. 

Peabody

Once made Forbes Magazine's List of America's 100 Best Places to Live. Easy access to major highways. Generally more affordable than upscale communities nearby.

Revere

Well known for its beach and famous boardwalk. Revere also has many neighborhoods away from the beach. It's a great place to live if you commute. Boston is very close.

Salem

Infamous for the Salem Witch Trials. The town has taken advantage of its infamy, turning itself into a bustling tourist destination. Salem is also a great place to live. It has many museums, historic neighborhoods, and over 60 restaurants downtown. The Retailers Association of Massachusetts once named Salem's downtown "Best Shopping District."

Swampscott

Know for its fantastic beaches, shopping and restaurants. This is a timeless upscale community with walk-able neighborhoods. Often compared to it's well know neighbor, Marblehead.

Topsfield

Started in 1650, Topsfield was known as a farming & shoe manufacturing community. Today it is a small town, rural community. Commuters have easy access to I-95. Nature hikers will love Topsfield's network of nature trails and wildlife preserves.

Wenham

A rural farming town that shares a culture with Hamilton, Ma. The Hamilton-Wenham community was declared one of the "Best Places to Live."

Winthrop

The North Shore's southernmost town. Winthrop borders East Boston and Revere. It's great place recreational water sports like kiteboarding, surfing, or boating. Deer Island has a great walking path with ocean views. There are two large beaches, several yacht clubs and an iconic water tower.
